Fine art print reproduced from an original hand-drawn ink drawing of a dried poppy seed pod (Papaver somniferum) observed through a macro lens. This is the third in a series of three close studies of the poppy seed pod.
The Latin name somniferum means “the sleep-bringer.” In ancient Greece, the poppy was linked with Hypnos, Thanatos, and Morpheus — gods of sleep, death, and dreams.
